The House of Sorrow and Joy

I went
Into the house
Of Sorrow while on the
Journey of life. Sorrow met me
Inside,

“Can I
Share a little
Secret with you?” she asked.
“Sure,” I said, little knowing what
It was.

“Without
Me you will not
Understand Joy or the
Reason why you would need her in
Your life.

“You can
Have happiness
But that does not bring true
Joy. Stay with me awhile and learn
from me.”

I cried
But stayed with her
For a long while. I learned
So much from her and then, one day,
Joy came.

Sorrow
Is still my friend.
Between Sorrow and Joy
I continue to learn and grow
Each day.

Thank You,
Lord, for giving
Me such helpful friends to
Teach me. Help me to continue
Learning.
