The time had come to return, and silently she dropped further into the depths. Each water gradient made a drastic temperature change as the light also fell from lighter to the darker hues. Her eyes adjusted just as easily as her body adapted to the pressures and soon, Glanderia came back into view.

For the second time that day, Amandine drew up short in surprise. There was no way she could miss the chill running through her body. Had the submarine been beside her with windows that looked down, they would easily have seen into Glanderia.

What is happening? She thought as she looked for the entrance she usually used to go in and out of the bubble.

True, the entire sphere was not distinct, but enough that it could pose a danger to their world. Amandine would have to speak to the Council of Elders.

Swimming closer, she realized that something seemed to be moving across the surface of the bubble’s skin. Drawing closer, Amandine looked through the window and screamed with horror as she watched the world of Glanderia burning. Surrounded by water, such an event should not be taking place, but it was. Her scream sounded hollow as it reverberated throughout her head. The pressure at this depth of the ocean permitted the sound emitted from her voice to travel a great distance, but her mind no longer had any care for the submarine or what they might hear.
