Three whole hours for a test?

On Saturday, January 26, 2019, I spent my first three-hour session doing martial arts, more specifically Kenpo Karate!

Ok, I will clarify that we didn’t do three whole hours of exercise. I could not have completed it had they done so.

We warmed up with punches in the first part of it, then went to blocks, then kicks. Eventually, we did the other exercises like squats, push-ups, sit-ups, etc.

It was not bad because I stood in the back row. I am, after all, only a measly white belt with hardly any knowledge at all. What I learn takes me forever to assimilate.

Suddenly, the sensei told everyone to line up in groups. Those on the back row stayed where they were. Those in the front row had their backs against the wall on my left, and those in the second row went to stand at the edge of the carpet on my right side.

Hmmm, I thought. I wonder what will happen. I’m sure it will be interesting. I wonder what we will do next.

The group on my left went forward and did a bunch of stuff. They were things I do, but they were much better at them than me. These were blue belts and yellow belts. Wow! They were fast with…
