Learning A New Language
Is the time now?
So you’ve decided that you must learn something new. But what? What should you learn that might make a difference in your life? That is exactly where I was.
- Start off making it easy.
Throughout our married life, my husband took me through multiple languages. Personally, I think I disappointed him repeatedly because he could learn the words in a short amount of time while I struggled to understand even the simplest word. Okay, maybe not the simplest one.
When we lived in England, my husband decided he wanted to learn Russian. So, he went to college and started. Because we didn’t have money for him to continue, he dropped out. However, he spoke to someone professional about teaching him. She agreed but only on her terms: Mark Escalera would have to find someone for her. If he did, he wouldn’t have to pay. Well, he found the person, and she began tutoring him.
Since I wanted to learn Russian, excitement filled me throughout the day. Mark would teach me what he learned, and soon we would regale the world with our Russian language. In my mind, I could see that within a few short months, Mark and I would speak fluently and with no accent! RIGHT! The first night he came home and told me I needed to learn one word.
Zdrastvootie!
