We only want time together

My dear grandson,

I can’t charge you for you’re not to blame
You only obey and do what you should
So worried for us this is not your game
We only want time together
I hope you and I can weather
Our love, so much for us the same.

They cut off our time whatever happens
Continuing to shorten it make us believe
What kind of thing do they say: trapping?
We only want time together
Wanting us to part forever?
Your affection are they kidnapping?

They tell me it’s somehow because of you.
What do they keep saying about me?
I hope we can both make it through
We only want time together
The two of us aren’t any lesser
What is it they want us to do?

They make up new rules once a week
Complaining because I didn’t know
Making things between us so bleak
We only want time together
I love you, my grandson, forever
Oh, for a hug or a kiss on the cheek
