Geared Up With Nowhere To Go

Yesterday, we were all ready to go. Excitement flooded our hearts, and I even wrote a little poem called “Trippin’.” Everything seemed bright and happy, at first.

Mark said the news bespoke of possible blizzard conditions in Wyoming. He paid for a hotel so we could stay in Denver and so miss the blizzard. Our two sons took us down to the hotel. We dropped everything off there then headed out to eat.

After we finished eating, we returned to the hotel while our sons returned to Wyoming. The family and I hunkered down ready to rest before our early flight out.

I worked on my book while the rest watched the news. Before long we heard talk of Denver closing down due to the same blizzard. Nothing was happening weather-wise, so I brushed it off. Everyone went to sleep except me.

Eventually, I lay down to rest. I tossed and turned with sleep fleeing from me every time I closed my eyes.

Finally, I arose out of bed to check the news.

To my horror and dismay, I found our flight was canceled. Several airlines grounded their planes. Outside of a few clouds, no precipitation landed anywhere around in Denver. What kind of nonsense was that? Why ground the aircraft?

Later, I found the wind was supposed to be 80 plus miles an hour.
